Glyngynwydd has been listed in local records as a "township" since early times and now consists of a traditional 17th century farmhouse, surrounded by a cluster of farm buildings of various ages, some of which have been sympathetically converted to provide five self-contained holiday cottages.
Llanidloes takes its name from the early seventh century Celtic Saint Idloes & is the first town on the River Severn. The half-timbered Old Market Hall stands at the crossroads of the four streets of the original medieval town. Built around 1600, it is the only surviving building of this type in Wales. Llanidloes has a reputation as a very "quirky" town, known for its liberal, counterculture atmosphere.
